Today, I have part 2 of my 2016 audiobook summary. If you missed part one, you can find it here. I’m talking about some of my audiobook favorites from those I listened to in 2016.
I mentioned on Monday, that I don’t review most audiobooks I listen to. But for the few audiobooks that I did review, links are tied to the book title. Clicking on the book covers will take you to the Kindle version so you can get more detail about the book.
2016 Audiobooks – Part 2
Scifi author Chris Fox’s series Void Wraith begins with Destroyer. Ancient artifacts, a galaxy-wide conspiracy, and former enemies working together combine to make this a scifi drama that had me hanging on every word. Semi-cliff hanger. But still got five stars. Yep, I have to continue with this series.
Just One Damned Thing After Another by Jodi Taylor is the first in the Chronicles of Saint Mary’s. Very funny, but with plenty of drama and action. The time-traveling agents of Saint Mary’s find all sorts of trouble to get into. There is a great narration by Zara Ramm.
Merkiaari Wars books 1-3 by Mark E. Cooper. 3 books – and over 40 hours of entertainment. Military, space opera, alien invasion, scifi. Great characters. I am into this series, probably for the duration!
In Dead Heat (Alpha & Omega #4) by Patricia Briggs, heroine Anna Latham has become the smart, strong and talented Omega that she is meant to be. This series is one of my favorite paranormal series and I don’t care how long it takes, I will wait for #5! Narrator Holter Graham has mastered this series.
Believe it or not, the historical romantic suspense, The Mystery Woman (Ladies of Lantern Street #2), was my first Amanda Quick novel. But it won’t be my last. Chemistry between the hero and heroine and the mystery and suspense are what make this a great book to listen to. And I always like Justine Eyre as a narrator.
Jaq D. Hawkins’ The Wake of the Dragon is not something I would typically read. There is no romance and the sort-of-HEA happens for the most unexpected characters. But it is a high-flying airship pirate adventure and makes a great audiobook.
I read the e-book version of Unchained Memory (Interstellar Rescue #1) by Donna Frelick and then I won the audiobook. I don’t re-read very often, mainly because there are just too many books and not enough time. But, in this case, since I really enjoyed the book so much, I was very happy to experience it as a listener.
I listened to several historical romance titles last year with The Unveiling by Tamara Leigh being my favorite. Revenge is the theme, but with a book categorized as inspirational, you guess that revenge will transform into forgiveness. And a very interesting transformation it was!
Meljean Brook as mastered the steampunk genre. Before I read, The Kraken King, part of the Iron Seas world, Riveted was my favorite. Now The Kraken King is my favorite. I suppose that will last until I read the next one. Alison Larken always does a fine job as narrator.
All together, I listened to 39 audiobooks in 2016. I wonder how many hours that was. Some of those hours were in my car, and the rest of them were walking hours. Exercise and a good book. That is how it should be!
Have you listened to any great audiobooks lately?
