About Sandy by Nancy Lee Badger

Sandy is a lonely dragon and flies from an island off the Scottish mainland to the Isle of Skye to find a mate. Shifting into a naked male, a chance meeting on a sandy beach with an interesting woman is interrupted by pirates. To escape, she leads him into the sea, a place he detests since he can barely tread water. What about sharks? They survive and together find a hiding place in the forest. Feelings surface, but she is different. Could this human learn to love a dragon?

Isobel lost her seal skin to a pirate. She has been following the thief for months and now has only two weeks to live. Bent on her mission, saving a naked human male slows her down. A visit from Brownies and her friend, Orin, complicate things when pirates kidnap her. Sandy comes to her aid, but can her growing feelings for the handsome human be denied? Why does she yearn to find her seal skin if success means never seeing him again?

Everyone loves to read about the decadently rich lives of English lords, especially a duke of the realm. Leave it to me to throw my handsome duke into his own kidnapping. Finding himself drugged, beaten, and nearly frozen to death? He is soon unrecognizable as the former ballroom-attending nobleman. Throw in a Scottish young woman whose only flaw was being related to the duke’s kidnapper and my 40th published book gives my readers an adventure to remember.

Borrowed clothing, a stolen horse, menial labor, an irritating Highland bull, and tussles with ruffians bent on threatening his life finds the duke in one situation after another. The duke would not have survived without an innocent young woman to share the danger and suspense. Throw in a treasure hunt and a blackmailed viscount and the story shows that growing up with a title is not always a guarantee of a pristine life. I had a heck of a lot of fun putting both of these characters in the worst of situations.

About The Duke’s Diamond

Payton Hartwell, the Earl of Bellmeer, is on a quest to return signet rings to various less-than-noble men whom a dead man had blackmailed. Instead, he walks into his own kidnapping. Separated from his cousin and friend, and finding himself alone with his kidnapper’s Scottish stepsister, his travels take on a serious tone. Saving her from Viscount Manning’s despicable plans, as well as Payton’s possible murder, takes a turn during a costume ball.

Tara Scott cannot believe her stepbrother kidnapped a nobleman and tied him up in his country manor’s barn. She saves Payton from the bitter cold and starvation, then is punished by an irate Viscount Manning. When Payton helps her escape, they find themselves on a journey into Scotland that is filled with ruffians, a Highland bull, wild weather, and a sexual awakening that surprises them both. Back in England at a New Year’s ball and the second discovery of a huge blue diamond comes to a head when the viscount and his men attack. It will take Payton, Tara, and all his friends to thwart a man set on vengeance and treasure.

After Payton mingled and invited several young women to dance, Lord Hamilton appeared at his elbow. “Yer Grace, can we talk? In private?”

Nodding, they slipped down a hall and into his study. The room appeared tidy, as usual, since his steward kept things in order. He had no doubt his grandmother, Fanny, ruled the estate and the steward was too afraid to take a misstep.

“How might I assist you?” Payton poured two glasses of whiskey and passed one to him.

“My thanks, Your Grace. I wish to talk about your travels concerning…the treasure.”

Payton choked. Sputtering, he managed to swallow the dram of whiskey before glaring at his visitor. Before he could form a sentence, the door opened. Tara walked in.

“There ye be, Lord Hamilton. Yer friend is asking for ye.”

When Lord Hamilton started to leave, Payton grabbed his shoulder. “Wait. What do you know of the treasure?”

“Is this the treasure Fanny mentioned at dinner?” Tara quickly shut the door.

The Earl’s Treasure by Nancy Lee Badger – Guest Post

I have officially released my long-awaited book The Earl’s Treasure. Must I remind y’all that a pandemic made many things grind to a halt?  Through moving mom to NC from FL, hubby’s surgeries, and temp work with my local Board of Elections, I pushed back the official release of my book several times. I decided that releasing the book December 1st could give my readers laughter, suspense, and romance in time for the holidays. Even though I do not consider it a Christmas novel, it takes place in the weeks before Christmas Eve.

This is my 30th romance and having it set partially in Scotland is due to my love of that country. I have volunteered at the New Hampshire Highlands Games for over 25 years with family (even this huge festival was canceled) but I only recently discovered I am partially of Scottish descent. The urge to write a Scottish historical novel grew. This book takes my characters from England, to Gretna Green, and beyond.

 Here’s the short blurb:

After Stone is wounded and thrust into an earldom, and Adele is widowed by an abusive husband, these star-crossed childhood friends meet at an English country ball, escape a kidnapper searching for a mysterious treasure, and depart for Scotland ahead of those intent on killing anyone in their way.

Excerpt from The Earl’s Treasure

Holding tight to Satan’s reins, Adele returned to the churchyard. Murray lay on his back in the middle of the graveyard. The Highlander who had come to her aid now fought with Ike. The clang of Ike’s long knife against the kilted man’s thin black, pointed spear reverberated again, and again. The plaid warrior’s weapon wasn’t a sword, but he swung it fast enough to keep Ike’s weapon from hitting home.

It was difficult to take her eyes off the flying, clanging steel and iron, but she forced her gaze to the kilted warrior’s face. “Stone?”

She must have said it very loud, because he glanced her way. Ike moved in, aiming his dagger at Stone’s stomach.

“Watch out!” Adele kicked Satan’s flanks and they galloped toward the fighters. Stone parried Ike’s lethal strike, sending the dirk flying. Ike cursed, turned on his heel, and ran toward a pair of horses.

“Nay, love. We need to leave, while he’s alone.”

“Is Murray dead?” she asked, as she stared at the other stranger’s limp form.

Stone ran to her side, and swung up behind her. “No, but we should leave before he wakes up. Ike is our current problem.”

Loud curses rose from the tree where the men had tied their mounts.

“What is going on?” Stone said as he reached around her and grabbed the reins.

As they trotted toward the lane, she explained “When Ike let me go, then ran to fight ye, I untied the ribbon from my dress and hobbled the horses’ front hooves together.”

Stone’s heated breath warmed the skin beneath her left ear, as he leaned closer. “Smart lass.”

What’s Next?

I hope to write several other books that feature secondary characters from this book. I have recently released a tie-in historical novella about a guy, a girl, and a Highland bull titled Love, Hamish and you can find out how to get a copy FREE HERE.
